Hamanasu(Japanese Rose)

The hamanasu is the official flower of Ishikari City and of Hokkaido Prefecture.

It is the original species of rose, and it has a cute appearance and elegant fragrance.

It blooms from the beginning of June to the middle of July in Ishikari.

When we see the hamanasu blooming, we feel summer is here!

Sadly, the number of wild hamanasu is decreasing due to the influence of exotic species, but volunteer citizens are working hard to preserve them.
